June is a fantastic time to see moose. So far we have seen over 40 moose on our trips! On our beautiful Maine moose tours in our secret ponds we not only see moose but also deer, loons, eagles, hawks, blue herons, turkeys, and hares.
Just two nights ago we spotted our first moose calf of the 2015 season! Moose calfs are typically born around the end of May and it usually takes us about a month before we see them; the mom is protecting the calf until they are big enough to venture further out together.
Now that summer has arrived we will see that the bull moose antlers will grow bigger and bigger. The fall season is a great time to see large bull moose.
Spring, summer, and fall are all incredible times in Maine to see moose. Join us for your next moose tour and experience the breathtaking Maine outdoors.

It's Not Always About The Sights.
Last nights canoe moose safari had eight people from all over, including one guest from Germany. These guests had only seen moose in pictures. Well, that all changed with the drive into the pond. Two very large cow moose graced the group with some photo ops and every one was excited. At the pond, the group heard the mating call of a large bull moose. They waited and looked really hard but he never showed himself. That didn't matter, the excitement and anticipation was well worth it. Everyone had a great time and all of the sights keep getting better everyday. So come join us and experience a wonderful outdoor adventure in the Maine wilderness.

Still In The Water
People keep saying "the moose are not going to the ponds anymore, its too late in the season." Well, we have been seeing moose on the ponds almost every day and even last night there was a large cow and bull in one of the ponds. Last night we had a couple from Alabama that took a private cane safari and had a wonderful time. They saw four moose, some loons and a flock of turkeys; two of the moose were a mom and baby. They watched the baby struggle through the mud for quite a while. When the trip was over the smiles on their faces said it all. Thanks again to all of you who have joined us at Northeast Guide Service this year. The next few weeks should be amazing!

Trip Of The Year
September 16, 2012 was an interesting day for moose safaris. Once again we had two trips on this day, one van tour and one canoe tour. An abundance of wildlife was encountered on these trips. The highlight of the trips was on the canoe tour. the ponds were very difficult to paddle with a strong northwest wind blowing. After checking the three ponds they headed back to the first pond and noticed some tracks that weren't there before. So they walked back in and were treated to quite the show. A bull, cow, and calf were right there starting to do the mating ritual. The bull was grunting, the cow was bleating, and the calf was just wondering what is going on. The moose came so close, the guests got amazing photos of these beautiful animals. This was the first signs of the rut we have seen this year so for the rest of the fall we should see more and more moose start courting each other. The wildlife count was, eight moose, a flock of turkeys, two loons, rabbits, one eagle, and one owl.

Mixed Bag Of Weather
We had typical fall conditions yesterday on our AM and PM moose safaris. There were showers on the AM van tour and clear, cool, and windy conditions on the PM canoe tour. Both tours encountered moose, one tour saw a huge bull and it was the talk of the trip. Seeing wildlife in Maine is a great experience and seeing a bull of this stature is a thrill of a lifetime. The wildlife count on these trips were, six moose and two deer. All of our guests enjoyed their adventures and were very happy with the wildlife and the changing leaves of autumn. The views are incredible and to some people that have never experienced fall in New England this is a trip that will be remembered for a long time.

Picture Perfect Moose Safari
Last night we went on a private moose tour with one person who was a wildlife photographer. He was interested in being up close to the moose in order to take pictures of the majestic creatures. We went on a canoe tour and even though it was cloudy and it was raining a little bit we had a great time. We saw a total of four moose, three of them were cows, we also saw loons and other wildlife. It was a great opportunity to take pictures and just enjoy nature.

Love and Marriage
"Love and Marriage, Love and Marriage, Go together like a horse and carriage..." Ok, so maybe I'm a little over the top today, but he was standing there and when I saw him, yes it was love at first sight. Marriage may come later, but this bull is in the rut. Yes folks, it's mating season again and the big bulls are out and about and I found mine today. I've been patiently waiting, just like this bull is patiently waiting for his lover. Sounds a little silly, I know, but I have been trying, day after day to find a really big bull over the last few weeks and it's been tough. Bulls are elusive, but when they are in the rut, they are seeking out females and it makes it much easier for a moose watching gal like me, to find them. So, far this week, they are coming out of the woods, getting very active and excited for love. The end of September and early October are great times to visit Maine to go on a moose watching tour. Not only are the moose very active during this time, the fall foliage colors are in their peak and it is simply beautiful in Maine. So, whether it's for love, marriage, or just a chance to vacation to Maine, it's beautiful here and you just might fall in love.

Beaver dam, bogs, and Maine moose!
There are plenty of beaver dams in the north Maine woods and today at the beaver bog, we saw a big bull moose standing in the water! We also saw a cow with her calf today during the Maine moose watching tour. The weather was beautiful and it was a great day for wildlife and moose watching in Maine!
