Mother Nature's Therapy: Moose Watching
We all need a little of Mother Nature's Therapy every now and again. We enjoyed a blue sky morning this AM for moose and wildlife watching. Thankfully, with the meteorologists messing up the weather most of the summer we have been fortunate that the predicted rainy days have turned out to be beautiful blue sky days. As you plan your nature therapy vacation to see moose consider the time of year.
Moose watching in June is of course the best month all year round to see the most moose per tour. Our guides were seeing upwards of 15-18 moose on some of the June moose tours. You can imagine with black flies and mosquitoes pestering us, they love to mess with the moose. That is why June is such a busy moose watching month. The moose get literally driven out of the woods to clear, open areas where we are waiting patiently to photograph them!
As the weather warms and bugs taper off, July continues to be a good month for wildlife and moose sightings. The moose calves are beginning to mature and travel more often with momma moose, so seeing the calves at this monthly stage is always a highlight for our moose watching guests.
August is a warm month when the sun angle here in northwestern Maine begins to change, so preference of morning or evening moose watching tours is up to you. We average 4 moose per tour during this time and consistently see moose on the remote woods ponds feeding each day.
There is less traffic and commotion in September. The kids have returned to school books and class room time. Parents tend to be settling back into their fall work routines, so those that vacation in September tend to have Maine all to themselves. Moose rut begins in the later part of September, so bulls tend to be less predictable (you understand why...vavavavoom)!!
Early October brings beautiful fall colors to cover Maine's landscape. What a perfect time to capture that amazing fall foliage and bull moose picture, right?! The days begin to be much cooler in the mornings and evenings here in Maine, but it's a spectacular time to breathe in the fresh, crisp fall air and enjoy the landscape that Mother Nature has painted for us.
If you have never seen a moose, it's time to venture to Maine's woods for an adventure like no other. Calm, quiet, beauty. Nature's therapy. Come relax with us and enjoy a Maine moose watching tour with Mother nature and let Northeast Guide Service be your guides!

Another Great Moose Tour!
On the very muggy but sunny day we had yesterday here in Northern Maine a group of 3 joined us on a Maine Moose Tour. they were great company and very talkative when it came down to seeing the wildlife. The trip certainly didn't lack excitement! We got to see a grand total of 7 moose! 3 were cooling off in the pond and the 4 others were walking around in the roads, so be very careful drivers! We also saw 2 cow and 2 yearling and they were just so adorable! The last animals we came across were loons and hare and they are both too cute! Our group had a wonderful time and so did we! We encourage more people to come book moose tours with Northeast Guide Service because they truly are one of a kind! You just can't see this beautiful wildlife anywhere else!

A Moose Canoe Tour: No Joke

Bull moose on Maine pond after our guided canoe tour |
When we say, you will be going on a moose canoe tour, it's no joke! Wildlife watching is a favorite past time for many to enjoy. Our Maine moose watching tours by canoe are an experience in nature with the best guides. You will enjoy canoeing on a pond where moose come for feeding. We center the tours around moose habitat.
On this particular day, the first week of October, this bull moose meandered along the shores of the pond, grazing on vegetation. It was decided that it was time for us to get off the pond before the moose made his way to the pond access point. Oh, but he didn't care, just kept lumbering along the shore. We didn't want to be disruptive to his morning meal, so we scurried out of the way, but had no time to get the canoe, so he paused and posed for great photography.
We get up close and personal with moose, but at a safe distance to not infringe on their habits in the wild. It's a unique experience and this day was one that definitely goes down in the record books as a unique opportunity.
Come enjoy the wilds of the North Maine Woods with us, see a Maine moose, possibly even see one that you think is going to take the canoe out, like this one!

A Moose and its Salad Bar
We saw 2 moose on today's moose tour, loons and rabbits. It was beautiful to see the bull moose in the pond eating and man do they eat a lot! Our Registered Maine Guide's take you to the best spots to see moose and other wildlife. But, more importantly our guide's do the best job at keeping the group together and quiet, that way you can sit and watch moose for hours. Since moose are vegetarians they eat the fresh vegetation on the ponds and can devour 40-50 pounds of fresh vegetation in a day. That's a big salad bar!
Maine Moose Watching for your birthday
Group moose safari this evening on our Maine moose watching tour. One of the little girl's on tonight's tour turned 5 year's old today. What a great way to spend your birthday! We saw two nice sized bull's. One bull moose had big, beautiful velvet antlers and the other walked along the shore bank towards the other bull. We saw deer, loons and rabbits tonight, as well!

College trip to Maine for family getaway
This family from New York were visiting Maine to getaway as a family before their oldest daughter goes to college in the fall. I can't think of a better place to vacation to than Maine, for a family to spend time together. Tonight we saw a bull moose on the drive to the pond. The velvet on his antlers looked dark and fuzzy! It was a beautiful evening to canoe together. We saw loons and ducks while paddling on the pond. It was a beautiful evening in Maine to see moose!
4th of July weekend in Maine for Moose Watching
The 4th of weekend was a busy one for Maine moose watching and wildlife tours. Not only were the moose on the loose in Maine, so were visitors from near and far! In total during this 3 day holiday weekend, Northeast Guide Service guests and guide's saw 20 moose on the ponds, roadways and shore banks of Maine's woods and waterways! The weather was the way it should be in Maine during the 4th of July weekend...HOT! We saw moose feeding on the ponds. One Registered Maine Guide said that the moose were coming out of the woodwork on her Maine moose watching tour. Not only did we see 20 moose, we saw deer, partridge, many duck families, loons, a plethora of frogs, rabbits, and fox - now that is wildlife watching in Maine at it's best! Our Registered Maine Guide's enjoyed meeting vacationers to Maine from Virginia, California, New York, and Maine! If you are looking to getaway to Maine on your next vacation, join Maine Moose Watching tours and come on a moose safari with us. You have your pick of morning moose watching or evening moose watching tours! It's an amazing experience. You will learn area information, local knowledge, see wildlife and have a great time!
Couples retreat to Maine woods to see Moose
Today's Maine moose watching tour was a couple's retreat from the Moosehead Lake region to the north woods to see our Maine moose. The weather was sunny and in the 70's on this balmy evening in Maine. I can honestly say that tonight's tour was one of the best by far (at least for me as a Registered Maine Guide). We put on the pond to canoe and we were already thrilled to be seeing moose feeding on the pond. At that moment a bald eagle flew in and landed on a dead tree. This bald eagle perched in the cove for almost an hour! While we watched the moose, the eagle was fishing! It was such an amazing sight. In total we saw 4 moose tonight on our Maine moose safari. What a great time. Come to Maine to see moose and in this case a bald eagle with Maine Moose Watching tours!

Last Minute Vacations
Today we took to the north Maine woods to go on a wildlife adventure! We had a trip going out with Northeast Guide Service on a moose safari. About half an our before we left a couple came in and actually decided to join us on our scheduled trip! Our tours are a great last minute plan if you want to add some adventure to your day. We saw 6 moose on our tour- a bull, 3 cows, a yearling, and a tiny calf! We watched a mother and her calf eating in a bog. We think that they calf must have been born only a couple weeks ago! We also saw 2 deer and a raccoon while canoeing around a secluded pond. Kate from our trip claimed to be a jinx when it came to seeing moose, but we think that we broke the curse!

Picture Perfect Moose Safari
Today we took to the north Maine woods with a wildlife photographer. We set off for our moose tour from the Northeast Guide Service base under a clear blue sky. Mating Calls
We took to the woods to set off on our moose safari adventure! We had a fun group with us. Four people were from New York and had outdoors experience rafting. The other two were a young couple from Massachusetts. Northeast Guide Service spotted two adult cow moose , three deer, and three loons. We thought that the loons were courting from the way they were swimming and singing! We had a lot of fun watching them from the pond. What a fantastic way to spend the morning in the north Maine woods!
